Food: Clostridium botulinum Food Alert for Action

The Food Standards Agency have issued a Food Alert for Action following a case of Botulism in an individual who had consumed Italian olives from a batch labelled I DIVINI di Chicco Franceso best before 10/06/2014 lot 161/11.

Local Authorities are requested to identify potential retailers such as delicatessens and farmers markets as the product is not stocked by major retailers.

Only one jar is currently known to be affected by C. botulinum type B toxin but consumers are advised not to eat the contents of any jars from this batch as a precautionary measure. Unconsumed product should be brought to the attention of the local Environmental Health Department.
