Smoke-free Signage (England)

October 24, 2012
Health and Safety

A new CIEH/TSI publication ‘Implementation of smoke-free legislation in England: Supplementary guidance for local authority regulatory officers and businesses about the use of no-smoking signs’ covers the changes that have been made from 1 October 2012. The Smoke-free (Signs) Regulations 2012 have replaced the earlier 2007 regulations. There is now a requirement to display one legible sign in smoke-free premises and vehicles, but no specific requirements with regard to size, shape, content or location. The publication also contains useful information updating the progress with regard to enforcement.

The guidance is on RIAMS in the Health and Safety module.
