p>A weekly update of changes and enhancements. This week including new ?procedures in the Enforcement and Food modules.

Primary Authority Procedures

The Regulatory Enforcement and Sanctions Act 2008 contains a number of requirements relevant to Primary Authorities and so that these are fully reflected in? RIAMS our procedures are being amended across the system. Becoming a Primary Authority is a major decision with the impact on resources, costs, and cost recovery all having to be considered against the benefit of the scheme. The arrangement is underpinned by statute and enforcing authorities need to be aware of the legal obligations placed upon them by the scheme. With this in mind we have added a series of procedures to the Enforcement Module held within a Primary Authority sub section. These are a guidance note providing an overview, a procedure for Local Authorities wishing to become a Primary Authority and a procedure covering the considerations enforcing authorities need to address.

New Procedure on Illegal Slaughter

The investigation of illegal slaughter can be a complex matter involving a number of agencies, our new procedure on the subject covers circumstances where illegal slaughter may be occurring, the agencies to involve and the measures to address the issue. The procedure has been added to the Food Module Enforcement Section, it provides a compliment to the existing information which includes procedures on enforcement, home slaughter and imported foods.
