p>Delivering the keynote address at today’s Hertfordshire Public Health Conference, Public Health England Chief Executive Duncan Selbie, told a packed auditorium if he could make one intervention to improve the nation’s health it would be employment. Mr Selbie told the audience of over 300, made up of a variety of public health professionals that “employment is vital to health and wellbeing.”

Touching on the subject of finance, Mr Selbie was insistent that “it’s not all about money. Even when we had money, we didn’t spend it properly.” Using a quote from the film “The Untouchables” he closed by challenging the delegates, asking “what are you prepared to do for Public Health?”

The event which has been co-organised by RH Environmental will also feature presentations from Faith Action, HealthWatch, and the Local Government Association. The new Hertfordshire Public Health Strategy will be launched during the afternoon session. You can follow proceedings on Twitter using #HertsPublicHealth.
